Make plans now to attend THE seminar of 2011 as the Florida Professional Photographers welcome Gordon Jovic to the United States! Gordon, who just moved to Boca Raton, Florida, dominated the wedding photography scene in his native Australia. At the SWPP convention in London in January, he was named 2010 Contemporary Wedding Photographer of the Year. Add to that the fact he won a staggering 40 international awards in 2010 alone and you’ll see why he is one of the most awarded wedding photographers in the industry.
Gordon is known for his low key and artistic imagery and has been featured in many leading photographic magazines in Australia, Europe and the United States. He will be featured again in the February issue of Rangefinder magazine. When not photographing weddings, Gordon travels around the world holding workshops to educate photographers. To check out his workshops, go to www.masters-of-light.org.   Some of the topics Gordon will cover at the FPP Spring Seminar include:
INSPIRATION- With it your work will excel!
How to inspire yourself
What makes a great shot a great shot?
Effective use of backdrops
How to train your eye
How to trigger special moments
Risk taking in photography
Perfecting body language
Making artistic imagery part of each wedding
Learn how to shoot albums,  not just images
How to increase sales
Learn to shoot without ever using flash
The importance of Photoshop and much more!
Whether you photograph weddings, create portraiture or anything in between, make sure you register for this premier event! This Spring Seminar will be a membership drive. What does this mean for you? Hold on to your cameras! The regular price for this seminar is $49 for FPP members, $79 for non-FPP members.  Here’s the deal:
It’s called a TWO-FER and works like this:
When an FPP member sponsors a non-member and the non-member joins the FPP, both attendees get in for the price of one – $49!
VERY IMPORTANT!…Both the FPP member and the NEW member candidate must pre-register online for the seminar. The FPP member will pay $49 when they pre-register online. The NEW member candidate will pay $79 when they pre-register online.  When you both come to the seminar, the NEW member candidate will fill out an application and have $79 deducted from their membership dues and then reimburse the sponsoring member half ($24.50) of the price of the seminar. (Sounds a bit convoluted but you’re just going to have to trust us on this one).
(Active/Professional Categories make sure you bring a copy of your FL Sales and Use Tax form.)
To add something a little different, in addition to great Door Prizes and 50/50, we are offering a very special type of prize… The Mentor Prize and it works like this:
When you arrive at the registration table, if you would like a chance to spend a day with an FPP Mentor, just sign up on that Mentor’s list.  After lunch, which is included, we will draw names out of a hat and announce the winners who can spend a day with their favorite Mentor.
It just doesn’t get any better than this! Mark your calendars and register now for this very special Spring Seminar with the 2010 SWPP Contemporary Wedding Photographer of the Year, Gordon Jovic. You don’t want to miss out on all the education, fun and seeing your friends from around the state! We’ll see you there!!

“Executives – A Market Ignored”

The landscape of our industry has evolved dramatically in recent years. More and more, professional photographers are fielding calls from potential clients who need the digital file for commercial purposes. In the film days, this was classified as a commercial job and rarely did portrait photographers even bother with it. The most any executive would purchase would be a single print to be used for business purposes. It was hardly worth the time.

Today, executive portraiture has become a product line that a good, quality portrait artist can count on for a steady revenue stream. It is still classified as a “commercial job” in that we are turning over the digital files along with a “user license” for them to make prints at their leisure for commercial purposes.

Kevin’s program will shed light on how this revenue stream has helped his business get through the slow times in our economy. A brief lighting and posing demo will be featured for a clean, yet professional studio head shot, along with tips on location lighting, marketing, and retouching for executives.

Kevin E. Newsome–With over 30 years as a full time professional photographer specializing in executives, seniors, children and family portraiture, Kevin Newsome might be considered one of Florida’s most experienced image artists. He’s a past president of the Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association (2003), the Florida Professional Photographers (2001), and the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association (2008-09). His book, Children’s Portrait Photography – A Photojournalistic Approach, was released by Amherst Media in 2007.
