Dear PPSCF Members and Friends;
Our PPSCF General meeting this month is on Tuesday May 16. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and the program begins about 7:30. The featured presentation this month is by David Carlson, an aviation photographer for over 20 years, who specializes in air-to-air type photography as well as general aerial photography. He holds an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and has flown J3 Cubs to P51 Mustangs. David has also shot commercial work for many companies and magazines, such as Smithsonian’s Air & Space magazine. Many photographers know David as a manager for Canon U.S.A., Inc., in the professional markets division of the photographic products group. He has been involved since the inception of digital cameras and supporting products. As part of his role with Canon, he has worked many special events like Super Bowls, World Cup Soccer, 6 Olympics and Presidential inaugurations.
David will be here to talk about getting the most out of your digital camera so that you don’t have to spend so much time at the computer, “fixing it in Photoshop”. He's a big believer in shooting it right the first time. He will cover some on white balance, color management, archiving and camera operation.
Please RSVP for this meeting no later than this Monday May 15, if you plan to attend, so we can get enough, but not too much, food. If you're on the Standing RSVP list, and you're coming to the meeting, then you need not rsvp, unless you're not coming. The standing RSVP list as we have it now: Debra Libby, Lara Hart, Mike Gibson, Allan Saltman, Gary & Heather Ensmenger, Susan Torregrosa, Denise Baggett, Jennifer Fortin, Chuck Wells, Dan Clay, Bruce Wilson If you're not on the list, and you plan to attend, you MUST RSVP your intention to attend by Monday, the day before the meeting (or not eat).
The cost to attend is $10 per member (in good standing) and $20 for each guest (non-member). This is considered a “program fee” and it covers many costs above and beyond the food. PPSCF covers the reasonable expenses of the speakers we host, as well as rent on our meeting space, projector rentals and other expenses that we photographers understand all too well. Visit PPSCF's website for details on the location of the meeting.
Please remember to bring a print to submit for The Peoples Choice, our monthly "Play or Pay" print competition. 8x10 or smaller meets the size requirement. If you win, your door fee for next months meeting will be waived. If you don't bring a print for People's Choice, you'll be asked to contribute $2 toward PPSCF's Harry & Ruth Langdon Scholarship, which is a worthy cause.
Hopefully, I'll see you there!
